This Week's Prayer
A 5-Day Rhythm of Scripture, the Lord's Prayer, and the Examen
Shadows · Hebrews 11:13-16. Our hope rests in the faithfulness of God revealed in Jesus. Pray a different Scripture through Lectio Divina each morning, return to the Lord's Prayer at midday, and review your day with God each evening. This week, practice trusting beyond visible results, receiving God Himself as your greatest gift, and living as people who belong to His coming kingdom.
Morning
Lectio Divina
Hebrews 10:19-23

Read (Lectio): Read the passage out loud, reflecting on the passage as you read.

Meditate (Meditatio): Read the passage again. As you read, notice one word or phrase that jumps out to you. Write it down if you have a journal in front of you.

Pray (Oratio): Read the passage again. Then pray short prayers related to the themes, words, or phrases of the passage that the Spirit brought up to you.

Contemplate (Contemplatio): Read the passage a final time and sit quietly to reflect. Ask yourself, "What is the one thing from this passage I will take into my day?"

Close your time by giving everyone and everything to Jesus, asking Him to help you live under His easy yoke today. Amen.

Midday
The Lord's Prayer

Pause over "Our Father." Draw near through Jesus, bringing both your trust and your doubts. Ask the Father to ground your confidence in His faithfulness, rather than in how strong or steady you feel today.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Evening
The Examen
  • Become still before God and remember that Jesus has opened the way for you to draw near.
  • What word or phrase from this morning's reading helped you rest in His welcome?
  • Where did you measure your relationship with God by your own performance or the strength of your feelings?
  • How did remembering what Jesus has done help you respond with trust, honesty, or love?
  • Confess what needs His mercy, receive His forgiveness, and entrust tomorrow to the One who keeps His promises.

Midday
The Lord's Prayer

As you pray "Your kingdom come," name a place where you have prayed or served without seeing the result you hoped for. Bring your disappointment honestly to God, and ask for grace to keep loving faithfully while leaving the outcome with Him.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Evening
The Examen
  • Recall the people of faith who welcomed God's promises from a distance.
  • Where did waiting feel difficult today, and what did you most want God to change?
  • Did you confuse an outcome you desired with something God had actually promised?
  • What small act of faithfulness mattered today, even if no one noticed and no result was visible?
  • Give God your unfinished hopes, ask Him for patient endurance, and rest in the home He prepares for His people.

Midday
The Lord's Prayer

Let "give us today our daily bread" become an honest prayer for what you need. Name the comfort, recognition, or security you have been chasing, and ask God to deepen your delight in His presence without hiding your unmet needs from Him.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Evening
The Examen
  • Thank God for holding you close, even in the places where you felt weak or dissatisfied.
  • What did you envy today, and what did that envy reveal about the life you thought you needed?
  • Where did you treat God's goodness as something to measure by circumstances?
  • When did His presence, counsel, or care become a gift you could receive with gratitude?
  • Place your desires before Him and ask for a heart that can say, even in weakness, that God is your portion.

Midday
The Lord's Prayer

As you pray "Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," remember that you belong to God. Ask Him to make that belonging visible through humility, integrity, and generous love for your neighbors, even when following Jesus makes you feel out of place.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Evening
The Examen
  • Remember that God has shown you mercy and called you into His light.
  • Where did belonging to Him shape the way you spoke, worked, spent, or treated someone?
  • When did the desire to fit in pull you toward an old habit or away from Jesus' way?
  • How did you show love to someone whose values or choices differed from yours?
  • Receive God's mercy where you stumbled, and name one concrete way to bless a neighbor tomorrow.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Evening
The Examen
  • Sit with the promise that God will dwell with His people and wipe away their tears.
  • What sorrow or unfinished longing do you want to bring honestly into His presence tonight?
  • Where did hope for His renewed creation help you stay present to the needs of this world?
  • What glimpse of His coming kingdom did you receive or offer through comfort, hospitality, reconciliation, or generosity?
  • Thank Jesus for what He has already done, entrust what remains unfinished to Him, and ask for courage to carry His love into next week.
Carry It Into the Week
Carry one word from your morning prayer into a concrete act of trust. Keep serving where results are unseen, receive God's presence with gratitude, and let your belonging to Jesus become visible in love for a neighbor. Our hope rests in His faithfulness, and His promised future gives purpose to today's small acts of love.
