Practice

Practical applications for loving one another in action and in truth.

This week's practice: Christian love becomes visible through ordinary obedience. Choose one or two action steps this week and ask God to make His love concrete through your words, presence, generosity, and attention.

Choose one or two

Do not try to do everything. Choose one or two practices, commit them to prayer, and take a simple step toward sacrificial love this week.

Pray specifically for God to grow your love for this church and the people in it. Write down 3-5 specific people and pray for them daily.

Simple step: Write down their names today and pray for one person each morning.

This week, ask at least two people, "How can I pray for you?" Then follow through and pray for them regularly.

Simple step: Text or ask two people this question before the end of the week.

When you hear someone express a need, if you have the resources, time, or bandwidth, take action to meet that need.

Simple step: Bring a meal, offer a ride, help with childcare, give financially, or make time to listen.

Identify one person this week and specifically tell them about "fruit" - evidence of God's work - you see in their life.

Simple step: Be specific. Name what you see God growing in them and why it encouraged you.

Reflect on whether you're withholding compassion from anyone. Confess this to God and ask Him to change your heart.

Simple step: Ask, "Lord, where have I closed my heart?" Then respond with one act of love.

Practice around the table

Love grows through repeated, ordinary acts of presence. Share a meal, ask a better question, pray for someone by name, and look for one concrete way to serve.

Continue the rhythm

Return to the weekly rhythm of reading, reflection, and prayer as we learn to love because He first loved us.
